01
Heat · 78–90°
Cedar, not a soundtrack.
Two stoves and a steam room lined with the old factory tile. The lights stay low and the door is heavy. Most people last twenty minutes, and that is enough.
Bathhouse · Miragaia, Porto
A bathhouse in a former tile workshop. Heat, a cold plunge, and a quiet room with tea. Book the length of the visit, not a philosophy.
Robes on the peg. Phones in the locker.
Every booked hour follows the same four rooms. Massage, if you add one, happens after the water.
01 · 10 min
A robe, a locker, a glass of water. The circuit starts when you are changed, not when you walk through the door.
02 · 20 min
Cedar stove or rosemary steam. Leave before you feel heroic. Twenty minutes is the house measure.
03 · 15 min
The plunge first, shoulders under, then the mineral pool. No laps. Nowhere to be.
04 · 25 min
Tea in the quiet room. The hour you booked includes this. It is not leftover time.
The rooms
01
Heat · 78–90°
Two stoves and a steam room lined with the old factory tile. The lights stay low and the door is heavy. Most people last twenty minutes, and that is enough.
02
Water · 12° / 36°
The plunge is a square of cold water, shoulder-deep. The mineral pool beside it is held at body temperature and is almost silent. Sit on the edge. There is no lane to swim.
03
Still · 22°
Twelve loungers, linen, and a pot of tea that arrives without an order. Phones stay in the locker. This room is why the circuit has a clock at all.
The list
Circuits are reserved by length. Everything here can be taken on its own, or folded into the hour you already hold.
The floor still slopes to the river.
The building
The kilns left in 2014. We opened five years later and kept the long room, the slope toward the river, and the blue-and-white tile the workshop had never sold. The street door is unmarked except for the number.
The water
The pool is held at 36°. The plunge is cold tap, which in January needs no theatre. Rosemary lives in the steam room and does not cross the corridor. If you want a smell, that is where it is.
The rule
A booking is time in the rooms, not a chair with your name on it. Massage happens behind a door that shuts. We will ask you to step out of the quiet room if a screen comes out.
Guides
Heat
Sets the stoves before the door opens and will tell you to leave the cedar room before you decide you should. Trained first as a lifeguard, then in Finnish saunas.
Water
Watches the plunge and the pool. Times nothing unless you ask. Keeps the mineral room at a temperature you can talk in, quietly, if you must.
Hands
River-stone and scalp work in the side rooms. Forty-five or seventy-five minutes, then she walks you back to the quiet room herself.
From the quiet room
“I booked dusk because the page was short. The steam smelled like rosemary and nobody explained a philosophy to me.”
Inês K./Thursday, after work
“The plunge is genuinely cold. I stayed in longer than I meant to, which I think is the point.”
Paulo M./Morning reset
“We came for the half day and were left alone with tea. That was the whole hospitality, and it was correct.”
Helena & Rui/Saturday
Before you come
Almost nothing. A swimsuit if you prefer one. At the desk you get a robe, a towel, sandals, and a locker key on a wristband. Jewellery stays with the phone.
The shortest circuit is seventy minutes. A massage adds its own clock. Your hour starts when you are in a robe, not at the street door.
Anyone sixteen or over who can use a hot room and a pool. This is not a clinic, and there are no facials on the list.
Free until noon the day before. After that we keep the hour. Write or call the desk. The form on this page reaches the same people.
If you are pregnant, skip the stove, the steam, and the plunge. The pool at 36 degrees and the quiet room are fine. Tell the desk when you arrive.
Book
We confirm the same day. If the hour is gone, we offer the next one that is actually quiet.
